Notes on the composition

Betsy’s Waltz is a lively piece in 6/8 composed over Thanksgiving break 2014 in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. In some respects, this composition could be viewed as holiday music but upon sharing a draft with my colleague Elizabeth Stuart, her dancing bemusement captured the piece perfectly. This is Betsy’s Waltz.

This piece also introduces sweep arpeggio figures based on an e minor triad. My students enjoyed learning this technigue!

I hope your students enjoy this piece!
